Realtors! So You Think You’re Hustling…

the landscape of real estate has changed, hustle is everything in this world

Endless hustle makes the best agents.

The real estate industry has changed. The days where agents could reel from the home fiasco of 2008 are over; realtors now have to compete with real estate publishers like Zillow and Trulia for leads.

The fact of the matter is, things have changed, and as a new agent, you will have to accept that more than anybody. The days of plenty are over, and that means that the only way to become a successful agent is to get to hustle.

Speak to any top producing agent and you’ll find he or she is an incredibly hard worker. Businesses that are successful do not create themselves, and being a Realtor is no exception. There is a direct correlation between how hard you work and how successful you’ll be.

Having to hustle doesn’t only mean working from Monday to Friday. In the end, working in real estate isn’t just about putting in a lot of time–it’s about putting in the right time and doing what’s necessary to close the deal.

Because of this, hustle is also about being prepared to work at a minute’s notice. It is about getting a phone call from a possible buyer at eight when you’re sprawled out on the couch and not thinking twice about contacting your client to set up a meeting.

Are we saying you should neglect your obligation to your loved ones or your partner for work’s sake? Of course not. However, if the benefits of working outweigh the advantages of whatever you happen to be doing when an opportunity presents itself, you need to be ready to suck it up.

Here’s a bit of encouragement, if this all sounds difficult: most people, and in particular brokers, do not work hard enough. If they did, they would all be producers. So don’t worry about competing with each agent on the planet. If you work hard enough, you will be in a class of your own.
